Chelsea hit the ground running in pre-season with a sharp performance to beat Bayer Leverkusen in their first friendly since returning from the Club World Cup.. Estevao Willian's first half goal was enough to seal the win with Joao Pedro getting a late second, but it was the manor of the game which impressed most.
Estevao had a dream start, scoring early on to give Chelsea a deserved lead. The new darling of Stamford Bridge kissed the badge as he celebrated in front of his adoring fans.
The Brazilian could easily have had another as Chelsea created chances a plenty in a rampaging first half. The second half followed a similar trend with plenty of bright moments for Chelsea in front of excited crowd. Pedro got the finishing touch.

Chelsea will take on Milan in a second friendly on Sunday with a spring in their step. Here, football.london has a full breakdown of each individual and their performance.
Filip Jorgensen - Dealt with the few Leverkusen efforts comfortably, collecting a high cross and saving well from a free kick. A really uneventful night for him. 6
Malo Gusto - Came close to scoring, which is a surprise. Forced a good save on the volley from a corner but did give the ball away in a poor position which led to Leverkusen winning a dangerous free-kick. 7
Josh Acheampong - Looked mostly composed in at centre-back. Punched a few passes through the press and very rarely hurried. Did get away with one in the second half when slipping over. Tosin bailed him out with a crucial block. More than able to help Chelsea deal without Levi Colwill. 6
Trevoh Chalobah - Moved to the left in Colwill's absence but as strong as always. Will used there a lot more often and looks ready to fill in. 7
Marc Cucurella - Another all-action display, smashing Ibrahim Maza into the advertising boards and making late breaks into the box to attack. Did well to show Nathan Tella wide and only concede a corner when left one-on-one on the halfway line. 7
Moises Caicedo - Reliable as ever for Chelsea in the middle of the park. Marshalled things along with the more industrious Santos. Had his customary long shot after winning the ball back, nailing a half volley but only straight at the 'keeper. 7
Andrey Santos - One of the quieter players for Chelsea but still plenty of energy. Crunched into a few tackles and started to fizz passes forward as the game went. Interacted nicely with Palmer and Estevao. 6
Estevao Willian - Found his feet incredibly quickly, looking bright from the very start. Deserved his goal at the back post and had already created two chances with his right foot before that.
Could easily have scored again when cutting inside and firing at Mark Flekken. A stunning uncompetitive debut, even if he did miss a few shots to make it even better. 9
Cole Palmer - Enjoyed himself back at home, picking up some brilliant positions and linking delightfully with Estevao. Always looked to find the teenager to his right and popped a few quick passes around the corner to keep Leverkusen guessing. 8
Tyrique George - The least effective of the attackers but not for the want of trying. George got less of the ball than others but couldn't do loads with it.
Did feed Cucurella, who set up Delap for a good shot, and then found the striker himself with a clever pass. 6
Liam Delap - Had a tough task battling with the enormous Edmond Tapsoba. Found space when running in behind and Palmer delivered, as did Cucurella with a few opportunities falling his way. Only denied a goal by the head of Mark Flekken. 7
Substitutes:
Tosin Adarabioyo (On for Chalobah 45') - Stopped an almost-certain goal with a brave block on Patrick Schick. Slotted in at left centre-back with ease. 7
Pedro Neto (On for Palmer, 45') - Always testing Alex Grimaldo at wing-back, getting to the byline and causing problems. 7
Dario Essugo (On for Caicedo, 45') - Got on with his business under the radar, keeping things simple. 6
Jorrel Hato (On for Cucurella, 45') - Showed his recovery pace to time a first tackle well. Stepped inside with some nice footwork to set up an attack for Neto. 7
Reece James (On for Gusto, 64') - Annoyed Maresca with a wasteful cross but didn't have to over exert himself too much, playing in the back three when Chelsea had the ball. 6
Jamie Gittens (On for George, 64') - Almost got an assist with his first touch as he burst towards the line and laid up for Estevao. Had another good piece of footwork to shoot from wide but saw it blocked. 7
Joao Pedro (On for Delap, 64') - Dropped in nicely to help build up, something Delap doesn't offer as much. Great finish to fire in the second. 7
Genesis Antwi (On for Estevao, 76) - N/A
Sam Rak-Sakyi (On for Santos, 76') - N/A
Aaron Anselmino (On for Acheampong, 76') - N/A
