Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk has been spotted in the stands at Emirates Stadium for the clash between , the team he very nearly joined, and his former club Shakhtar Donetsk. The Gunners launched several bids during the 2023 January transfer window to try and sign him, but all of those were rebuffed.
While another offer was in the works, Chelsea swooped in and met the Ukrainian side's asking price, which saw them complete a stunning transfer hijack. Since his arrival, the 23-year-old has struggled to make a lasting impact in his first 18 months at Stamford Bridge, with .
“I don’t think it’s a lack of confidence,” Maresca said about Mudryk’s form last month before the . “Misha is Misha, you have to accept the way he is. Hopefully he can get minutes and do better. It is important for him [to play], but it's important for all of the rest.
“The other players, there are players that train every day very well, but unfortunately I cannot give them a chance. But Misha and all the players [who] are not getting so many chances, [Barrow] is a good chance for them." Since then, Mudryk has played just 20 minutes of football, though he did grab an assist in the 4-2 win over Gent in Conference League action.
Mudryk was omitted from the matchday squad that made the trip to perhaps an unfortunate sign of where his career is at, especially as he shined during his debut in that exact fixture last year.
Just two days after that decision, Mudryk was back under a spotlight, having been captured by Amazon Prime cameras in north London for clash against Shakhtar.

Given his links to the Ukrainian club, it certainly makes sense for him to be in attendance, likely as a guest. was also among those in the same box as Mudryk, with the Chelsea star again showing his support for the horrendous experiences still being endured by those in his home country.
