7000 special trains will run on Diwali-Chhath Puja, more than 2 lakh people will be able to travel

Indian Railways: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that it has been decided to run special trains to overcome the problems of people traveling by trains during festivals. Along with the special train, some coaches have been kept in reserve at every major station and zone.

Indian Railways: People of Bihar, Jharkhand, Purvanchal and Eastern India going home on Diwali and Chhath will no longer have trouble booking train tickets. Indian Railways has decided to run about 7000 special trains, giving a festive gift to the people going home from other states on Diwali and Chhath Puja. Giving this information on Thursday 24 October 2024, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that 7000 special trains will be run this year for Diwali and Chhath Puja. It has been estimated by the government that after running 7000 special trains, more than 2 lakh people will be able to travel.

2500 more special trains will be run than last year

The biggest thing is that Indian Railways is going to run more special trains for Diwali and Chhath Puja this year in 2024 as compared to last year 2023. After the Union Cabinet meeting, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that last year Indian Railways ran a total of 4500 special trains. This year this number has been increased to 7000. He said that this year about 2 lakh additional people will be able to travel by special trains.

Railway and RPF employees will be deployed at railway stations

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that it has been decided to run special trains to overcome the problems of people traveling by trains during festivals. He said that apart from this, railway and RPF employees have been deployed at railway stations to control the crowd and maintain order at the stations. A separate operation room has been set up for Diwali and Chhath festival on every big special train.

Bogie reserve for major stations and zones

On the other hand, Indian Railway officials say that along with special trains, some coaches have been kept in reserve at every major station and zone. This will enable them to run on busy routes if needed. They said that passengers will get information about additional or special trains on IRCTC's official website or mobile app. They can easily book tickets for these from their nearest railway station, website or app.
