Under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), the Government of India provides cheap or free rations to millions of eligible citizens through ration cards. This card not only symbolizes food security but also serves as a unique identification document. However, the government has taken a major step to ensure that only the right people benefit from the scheme by making e-KYC mandatory for ration card holders.
How often will e-KYC be required?
According to the new rules, you will now be required to update your ration card every five years. Many people last completed their e-KYC in 2013, meaning it's now time to update it. The good news is that the e-KYC process has become much easier, and you can complete it online from the comfort of your home. Let's learn how to get your ration card e-KYC done from home...
How to do e-KYC for your ration card?
Download the Mera KYC and Aadhaar FaceRD apps on your mobile.
Open the app and enter your location.
Enter your Aadhaar number, fill in the captcha, and verify with the OTP received on your mobile.
You will see Aadhaar-related details on the screen.
From here, select the 'Face e-KYC' option.
The camera will automatically turn on, and you will now click your photo.
After clicking the photo, tap the Submit button.
Your e-KYC will be complete.
How to check whether e-KYC has been completed?
If you have followed the steps mentioned above and now want to know whether e-KYC was successful, follow these simple steps...
First, open the Mera KYC app.
Then enter your location.
Now, enter your Aadhaar number, captcha, and OTP again.
After this, when the details are displayed, if Status: Y appears on the screen, then e-KYC has been completed.
If Status: N appears, then e-KYC has not been completed yet.
