Karad (Maharashtra) [India], November 9 (ANI): Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Privithraj Chavan has rejected allegations of him not working for his Karad constituency and said the area has seen progress.
The Congress leader countered allegations against him concerning Karad levelled by Home Minister Amit Shah during an election rally here. Chavan is recontesting from Karad.
"I can give him a list of what I did when I was the chief minister. From the central government, I brought an earthquake research centre, which is going to be a university. Just to say that nothing got done is quite silly. The people of Karad know what I did. Amit Shah doesn't know Karad. Whatever has been written down for him, he read it," Chavan told ANI.
With Amit Shah raking up the issue of abrogation of Article 370 and the J-K assembly resolution for restoration of special status, Chavan said the decision to do away with Artcile 370 was taken by Parliament and any change can be made there only.
Chavan, who made an error about the place concerning Article 370 and later corrected himself, said Article 370 was a temporary provision.
In his speech in Karad, Amit Shah slammed Congress and Rahul Gandhi and said fake narratives have been made about Agniveer scheme. .
"I want to assure you all in Maharashtra, that both the central government CAPF and the Maharashtra state government will give pension jobs to each Agniveer after they return from the armed forces," Shah said.
Maharashtra will go to the polls on November 20 and votes will be counted on November 23.(ANI)
