Aamir Khan spoke out against how some stars misuse their stardom and exploit producers. In a candid chat with Komal Nahta, the superstar revealed how he had always disapproved how some stars are a nightmare for producers as they burden them with needless expenses.
He revealed how he got to know how some stars make producers pay members of their retinue, such as their driver and assistant. He then stated, “I have self-respect. Why should the producer undertake unnecessary expenses on my behalf? Are they now expected to pay my son’s school fees?”
He then explained that ideally, producers should only incur the film production costs. “This includes makeup, hair, and costume. But paying for my personal driver or help, how are they contributing to the film? They are working for me. It is my responsibility to pay them, especially when I am earning well…” he stated.
“I today, hear stars make producers pay the salaries of their drivers and domestic help, gym trainers, cooks, etc. It’s very harmful for the industry. Now you make producers pay TV bills, too. Actors are misusing their stardom,” he said.
On the work front, Khan was last seen in the sports drama ‘ Sitaare Zameen Par’. The movie is a spiritual sequel to the 2007 blockbuster Taare Zamee Par’
The movie is an authorized adaptation of the 2018 Spanish film Champions and centers on the story of a basketball coach who, after being suspended, is assigned community service. His task leads him to train a group of athletes with disabilities, guiding them as they prepare for a major tournament.
The project was officially announced in October 2023, and filming began soon after. The shoot spanned across various locations in India, lasting nearly four months, and wrapped up by June 2024.
Sitaare Zameen Par made its theatrical debut on 20 June 2025. The film struck gold at the box office, collecting ₹266 crore globally. Its success placed it as the third highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025 and the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of the year.
