Jobs in India’s healthcare and pharmaceuticals industry grew by 62% year-on-year at the end of March, while hiring over the last three months increased by 7%, according to jobs platform foundit.
So far, the healthcare sector has generated more than 7.5 million jobs, according to foundit, which was earlier known as Monster APAC & ME.
“India’s healthcare sector is entering a new era—where technology and talent are driving transformative change,” said V Suresh, the chief executive officer of foundit. “Our latest data highlights a sharp rise in demand for roles across AI (artificial intelligence), digital health and informatics, reflecting a sector-wide pivot toward innovation and patient-centric care."
According to foundit, demand for entry-level talent increased by 25% over the last year, particularly in telemedicine roles. Foundit said there has been a rise in health tech startups, where professionals in roles like data entry, customer support and clinical assistants are critical.
At the mid-level, healthcare IT professionals have seen a 31% increase in demand, especially for those skilled in digital transformation tools like electronic health records systems.
At the senior level, roles in health tech have seen a 28% increase in hiring demand, particularly in leadership positions like chief technology officer (CTO) and chief medical officer (CMO).
According to foundit, the demand for regulatory affairs and compliance experts has surged by 24% due to stricter regulations in pharmaceuticals and digital health, while business development and sales leadership roles have grown by 26%, particularly in health insurance and telemedicine services.
