Shardiya Navratri 2025 Vrat Parana Muhurat: This year, Sharadiya Navratri 2025 begins with special coincidences on September 22nd and concludes on Vijayadashami (Dussehra) on October 2nd. Devotees observing the Navratri fast break their fast on Navami and Dashami, but this time, there is confusion regarding the correct date for breaking the fast. Some break the fast after performing a havan on Mahanavami, while others consider it auspicious to break the fast on Dashami, after immersing the idol and the Kalash.

In such a situation, it becomes important to know when it is appropriate to break the fast in 2025: October 1st or 2nd. Furthermore, what special considerations should be taken when breaking the fast to reap the full benefits of the fast? Let's explore the correct date, auspicious time, and necessary precautions for breaking the fast.
Navratri Parana Date
There is some confusion among devotees regarding the date of Navratri Parana in 2025, as Mahanavami falls on October 1st and Vijayadashami (Dussehra) on October 2nd. According to the calendar, the main ritual of Parana is performed on either the Navami or Dashami Tithi. In most traditions, devotees break their fast after performing a havan on Mahanavami, so it is considered appropriate to break their fast on October 1st. However, in some traditions and regions, Parana is performed on the Dashami Tithi, i.e., October 2nd, after immersing the Kalash or idol. Devotees can break their fast according to their traditional beliefs and family traditions, but religiously, Parana on the Dashami Tithi is more prevalent and acceptable.
Navratri Parana Method
In the morning, bathe, wear clean clothes, and prepare for the puja.
Light a lamp in front of the idol or picture of Goddess Durga and decorate the puja site.
Offer red or yellow flowers, fruits, coconuts, sweets, and offerings to the Goddess.
Invite virgin girls, wash their feet, and feed them respectfully.
After the meal, bid farewell to the girls by offering them dakshina, clothes, or gifts.
Following this, perform a havan (fire sacrifice) or recite Durga Saptashati or chant Devi mantras.
At the end of the puja, break the fast as per the prescribed rituals, i.e., consume food or water.
Finally, pray to Goddess Durga for happiness, peace, and prosperity along with your family.
Take these precautions during Navratri Parana:
Always consume only sattvic food during Parana. Completely avoid tamasic food, non-vegetarian food, or intoxicants.
Pay special attention to cleanliness while worshipping the girls; their seating and dining arrangements should be pure and clean.
Pleasing the girls is considered virtuous, so feed them with respect and give them gifts whenever possible.
Do not rush into breaking the fast. Complete each ritual with devotion and patience.
All family members should participate in the ritual; this collectively leads to auspicious results and merit.
It is extremely important to maintain purity, discipline, and concentration during the Parana.
