The main reason behind offering Dahi Chuda is that it is a cooling offering offered to the Goddess at the time of her departure. Meanwhile, Purnia-based scholar Pandit Manotpal Jha explains that during Navratri, devotees worship Goddess Durga for nine days, and the 10th day is considered the day of her departure.
