Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A scooter with a broken number plate, stopped by traffic police during a checking drive at Nagar Nigam Square, was found to be stolen in 2023. The police caught the scooter rider and handed him over to the MG Road police along with the vehicle.
According to the police, Subedar Kazim Hussain Rizvi and his team were deployed at Nagar Nigam Square to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Tiranga Yatra on Friday. They stopped a scooter (MP09SJ8522) with a broken front number plate. The traffic police asked the rider Bhagwan Das to produce the original documents of the vehicle, which he was unable to do. He also failed to provide satisfactory answers regarding the ownership of the scooter.
Upon further inquiry, police found that the scooter had been reported stolen from the MG Road area on October 4, 2023. The owner Ashwin Bohra had reported the theft from Tilak Path.
Bhagwan Das told the police that he had taken the scooter from someone in lieu of money owed to him, and claimed he was unaware that the vehicle was stolen. He and the scooter have been handed over to MG Road police station for further action.
