After match winning knock against on Sunday,April 6, the franchise responded to an old tweet from Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Pichai had previously commented on Sundar's limited opportunities in the IPL, which caught the attention of many, including the Gujarat Titans.
In his first appearance for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, Sundar made an immediate impact. His 49 off 29 balls helped his team successfully chase down 153 runs against SRH. The original tweet from Pichai had been a response to a fan who questioned why Sundar hadn't been playing more in the IPL, despite his consistent success with the Indian national team.
Washington Sundar's IPL career so far
Sudnar had three year stint with SRH, from 2022 to 2024 which saw him have a limited role in the side with his most appearances coming in his first year with 9 matches. Even before SRH, the all-rounder was part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for 4 years, however he played a limited role for the side. The most he played for RCB came in the 2020/21 season with his 15 appearances, which is also the most he has played in the IPL since 2017 till now.
While Sundar has started off his IPL 2025 campaign on a strong note after helping the side clinch a 7-wicket win against SRH, both fans and the player himself will hope to see this performance continue
