Thane: An eight-year-old girl died and ten people were injured after a private bus that was returning from a picnic lost control and rammed into a pillar of the bridge in Padgha, Bhiwandi on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Kaynat Badruddin Ansari (10). The incident occurred at Padgha village on the Mumbai Nashik Highway at 7 PM on Friday when a total of fifteenth people from the same family were returning from a picnic at Bhatna and Khadvli River to their home when they met with an accident.
The police said that the bus driver has been identified as Badruddin Ansari, who is father of the deceased girl Kaynat, lives with his family members in Gaibi Nagar, Bhiwandi. Ansari owns a 49-seat private bus that is assigned to a private company in Bhiwandi. His few family members came to his house from the village to visit him. Therefore, Ansari and his family members decided to go for a one-day picnic at the Khadvli River and Bhatsa River. A total of fifteen people left home on Friday at about 3 PM.
The driver rode the bus recklessly, lost control, and crashed into a pillar of the Samruddhi Highway near Padgha in Bhiwandi. The locals and bystanders rushed to the spot, alerted the local police, rescued them from the mangled bus, and took them to a nearby hospital where the girl among them was declared dead upon arrival, while nine others were injured, three of whom were in critical condition and receiving treatment.
Bala Kimbhar, senior police inspector of Padgha police station, said, "A girl sat beside her father, who is driver Ansari. The girl suffered serious injuries to her head and succumbed to her injuries." An FIR has been filed against driver Ansari under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nayan Sanhita.
Rais Shaikh, MLA of Bhiwandi East, visited Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital after learning about the unfortunate bus accident. He instructed doctors to provide medical assistance without delay.
"Visited IGM Hospital in Bhiwandi after the unfortunate bus accident. Spoke to the injured and their families. 12 people are injured, and sadly, we lost one life. A young girl with a spine injury is being shifted to Thane Civil. We are arranging more doctors for treatment" Rais Shaikh posted a massage on X
