A disturbing case of alleged sexual assault and mental harassment has emerged from the GSVM Medical College in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. A senior resident female doctor has accused her colleague, Dr. Abhishek Bhaskar, an orthopedic specialist, of raping her under the pretext of marriage and subjecting her to repeated abuse.
According to the victim's complaint, she had been working at the medical college for over two years when she met Dr. Bhaskar. The doctor allegedly won her trust by claiming he was unmarried and gradually built a romantic relationship with her. However, about two years ago, he reportedly called her to his room under the guise of discussing studies, where he then forcibly had sexual relations with her. Despite her protests, he promised marriage, which led the victim to continue the relationship.
The situation worsened when the victim began pressuring Dr. Bhaskar for marriage, only for him to become abusive, changing his behavior towards her. He allegedly beat her, humiliated her publicly, and even blocked her number at the behest of his parents. Eventually, Dr. Bhaskar left Kanpur and returned to his hometown in Khurja, Bulandshahr.
The victim has since been suffering from depression and emotional distress. After gaining the courage to speak out, she filed a formal complaint with the Chakeri police station. A case has been registered against Dr. Bhaskar, and police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Authorities are taking the allegations seriously and have assured that appropriate legal action will follow. The case has drawn attention to issues of abuse and manipulation within professional environments, and many are awaiting justice for the victim.
