Amanda Holden reveals 'horrific' pain while filming new BBC quiz show The Inner Circle

Amanda Holden has shared her excitement about taking on the role of a solo television quiz host for the first time.

The 54-year-old star, known for her appearances alongside fellow Britain's Got Talent judges and Alan Carr on The Spanish Job, is now stepping into the spotlight as the sole host of her new quiz show, The Inner Circle.

The gripping game involves players guessing who is lying about the amount of secret cash they've been given, while answering general knowledge questions to increase the prize pot.

In the final round, two contestants can choose to split the winnings or betray their opponent and attempt to take it all.

In a chat with The Daily Star and other media outlets, the Heart Radio presenter revealed that she doesn't know how much cash each contestant receives at the start of the game, ensuring her reactions are "genuine".

Amanda elaborated: "I thought if I don't know how much everybody's got, then I can play it for real, and I can be as surprised as everybody else."

She added: "It's like when I do Britain's Got Talent, I think for years people thought we were scripted, where I was like, 'Really, who's writing this?' Obviously, we are not, and it's all off the cuff. My reactions were always completely genuine."

She added: "I think sometimes, Piers [Morgan], I can drop him now because he's not on the show, and he could come and watch the dress rehearsal of some of the finals so that he can think of funny or relevant things to say. And I'd be like, 'Oh no, I have to be able to say exactly what I've just seen.' Otherwise, it's not real."

Amanda also revealed how she relished witnessing the contestants' reactions at the game's conclusion, observing "how naughty" they can be.

She chuckled: "It's a game of trust, human nature and seeing just how naughty people can be at the end."

She continued: "It's real mix of things that we love; Goldenballs, the amazing gameshow with Jasper Carrott, there's a bit of Traitors in there because people are doing the dirty on each other all the time and a bit of The Weakest Link."

Amanda also disclosed that shooting the new series proved challenging and she required assistance to ease her throbbing feet.

"I did it all in a heel", Amanda revealed. "I invested in a footspa because my feet were like Walls cocktail sausages by the end - it was horrific."

The groundbreaking new show features a primetime six-part weekend night celebrity version running alongside the daytime edition.

The Inner Circle will be available on BBC One and iPlayer this October.
