Now Taylor is engaged to Travis and the Twilight star has reacted to his ex's engagement. NFL's official Instagram account shared the news of Taylor and Travis' engagement alongside the caption: "I cannot believe this is really happening." The words are what Taylor said to Travis after he won the 2024 Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs, and Travis replied: "Same."
That post was re-shared by Taylor Lautner, who is now happily married to his wife Taylor Dome. The singer and the actor have remained friends following their split, with him even watching her on the Eras tour last year and joining her on stage.
In 2023, Taylor said the singer was "absolutely" the instigator of their split but shared his "deepest respect" for her. He said: "I'm thinking back on exactly what happened. But no, yeah, she did. I think when you respect somebody for who they are, like in their soul, it allows you to move on, forgive and continue that love in a different way.
"We stayed friendly, we would see each other now and then. But we then did fall out of touch and didn't talk for a while. But I've always had the deepest respect for who she is as a person before anything else."
Taylor had a starring role in the singer's music video and he came on stage to celebrate the video during her most recent tour. Speaking about her ex, the singer said: "He was a very positive force in my life when I was making the Speak Now album ... He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it's very convenient because we all share the same first name."
The actor then said: "I respect you so much. Not just for the singer you are, the songwriter, the performer — but truly for the human you are. You are gracious, humble, kind and I'm honoured to know you."
