Akhilesh Yadav Slams Govt in Lok Sabha: 'Why Was Operation Mahadev Done Only Yesterday?'

Send Push

During the ongoing discussion in Parliament on Operation Sindoor, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav questioned the timing and intent behind Operation Mahadev, the recent counter-terror operation. While praising the Indian Army’s courage, he demanded accountability from the government on strategic decisions.

Akhilesh: ‘Why did the encounter happen only yesterday?’

Participating in the Lok Sabha debate, Akhilesh said:

“The bravery of our army is unmatched. But I ask, why did the encounter happen only yesterday? Why not earlier?”

He questioned the delayed response in eliminating the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack, and raised doubts over the government's intent, implying the action might have been politically timed.

'What about Rafales and ceasefire?'

Akhilesh made pointed remarks:

“How many of those Rafales that were worshipped with lemons actually flew in Operation Sindoor?”

He also criticized the ceasefire decision, questioning:

“After the ceasefire, drones kept entering India. Why did you agree to a ceasefire? Under whose pressure did it happen?”

Pulwama and intelligence failure revisited

Referring to the Pulwama attack, he asked why the vehicle carrying RDX was never traced, and why repeated intelligence failures go unanswered:

“There was talk of intelligence failure in Pulwama too. Who is responsible? Why is no one ever held accountable?”

Concern over China

Akhilesh warned that China poses as much danger as terrorism, stating:

“The government’s policies are indirectly helping those who encroach our borders. Business ties with aggressors are thriving while national security is compromised.”

Call for clarity, not chest-thumping

He concluded by urging the government to stop politicizing national security and focus on transparent action and prevention:

“Everyone stood united behind you, but stop taking public sentiment for granted. Don’t play with the nation's emotions.”
