When we talk about Bhojpuri cinema, the spotlight usually shines on big stars like Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’, Pawan Singh, and Amrapali Dubey. But behind the camera, there are many silent contributors whose work often goes unnoticed. One such name is Mithai Lal Yadav, a familiar figure in the Bhojpuri industry, whose efforts have shaped the careers of several actors. Recently, actress Amrapali Dubey acknowledged him in an interview, crediting him for helping her in the early days of her career when she struggled with Bhojpuri dialogues.
Mithai Lal Yadav, born on 1 January 1970, began his journey in films working as part of the crew. Gradually, he established himself as an assistant director and went on to work in some of Bhojpuri cinema’s most successful projects. His first big film as an assistant director was Nirahua Hindustani (2014), which proved to be a turning point not only for the industry but also for his career. Since then, his name has been associated with almost every major project of Dinesh Lal Yadav.
The connection between Mithai Lal Yadav and Nirahua is not just professional but deeply personal. Mithai Lal is actually the elder cousin brother of Bhojpuri superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav. Their bond often reflects in their collaborations, where Mithai Lal plays a crucial role in supporting Nirahua’s projects from behind the scenes. Interestingly, Mithai Lal’s grandson, Shivansh Lal Yadav, once shared a video with Nirahua, where he referred to Mithai Lal as “grandfather,” highlighting the close-knit family ties.
Amrapali Dubey, who is today one of the leading ladies of Bhojpuri cinema, openly admitted that Mithai Lal Yadav’s guidance helped her transition smoothly into the industry. His contribution extends beyond just technical work—he has been a mentor and a support system for actors adapting to the Bhojpuri language and style of filmmaking.
Though not very active on social media, Mithai Lal’s Instagram posts occasionally give a glimpse of his work and collaborations. For Bhojpuri fans, his name might not be as glamorous as the stars on screen, but his presence has been instrumental in shaping the industry’s success stories.
Mithai Lal Yadav remains one of the unsung heroes of Bhojpuri cinema, proving that while stars shine on screen, it’s the hard work of people behind the camera that keeps the industry alive.
