India and China to Complete Troop Disengagement by October 28-29

India and China are on track to finalize the disengagement of troops at Demchok and Depsang by October 28-29. This development follows extensive diplomatic and military discussions aimed at easing tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The move comes just ahead of a scheduled bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Xi at the upcoming BRICS Summit.

The agreement to disengage at these critical points in Eastern Ladakh is seen as a significant step in reducing friction between the two nations. According to Army sources, the framework for this agreement was first established at the diplomatic level before transitioning to military discussions.

This disengagement pact is designed to foster a more peaceful environment along the LAC, where India and China have faced multiple standoffs in recent years. As both countries continue to work toward a resolution, the completion of this process will be a key focus at the BRICS Summit.

The disengagement of troops has commenced at the two key friction points of Demchok and Depsang Plains in the Eastern Ladakh sector. This development follows a recent agreement between India and China aimed at resolving the standoff between their respective armies.

According to officials, Indian troops have begun relocating their equipment to rear positions in the designated areas. In addition, both sides have started dismantling one tent each and some temporary structures in the region. Chinese soldiers are reportedly retreating to the eastern side of the Nala, further indicating a step towards de-escalation.
