Officers searching the River Thames near Gravesend have recovered a body believed to be that of a missing girl. Police were alerted at 1.46pm on Friday by the Port of London Authority, following concerns for two children who got in trouble after entering the river at Royal Pier Road.
including Kent patrols, HM Coastguard, RNLI, and South East Coast Ambulance Service responded to the scene. A boy was pulled from the water and is now in stable condition in hospital.
Kent Police's Marine Unit and HM Coastguard resumed their search on Saturday morning.
At about 11.40am, a body was found in the river near Gravesend with help from the RNLI.
The body has been formally identified by the girl's next of kin.
Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
