Emmerdale fans were left on the edge of their seats as a mysterious newcomer made an unexpected arrival, leaving three villagers perplexed and tied to a potential crime. During Wednesday's (October 22) episode of the ITV soap, Caleb Miligan (played by William Ash) was at the depot when he was approached by Joe Tate (Ned Porteous). However, as they began to talk about negotiations, there was a loud thud from one of Caleb's vans. Taken aback by the noise, the businessman opened the van only to discover an unidentified woman who emerged from between the boxes.

After Joe questioned who she was, and Joe admitted: "I have no idea," fans quickly took to social media with their theories. One predicted: "Cue a green card storyline where she has to marry Bob but falls in love with Jai or something. Brills." Meanwhile, another viewer fumed: "What absolute s***. Don't tell me... the stowaway is a dentist, or a surgeon. People are sick of this naive nonsense that is constantly forced upon us."

Ruby Miligan then appeared and was also left confused after she found the woman, and managed to coax her out of the van.

By the end of the episode, Ruby had managed to bring the mystery woman back to their house, where Caleb was furious to see her asleep on their sofa.

However, as future episodes promise more details about her, a green card storyline with a potential marriage to Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) would see him continue to hold his title as Emmerdale's most married man.

The hapless barman has been married and divorced seven times to five different women, but he's actually walked up the aisle eight times; meanwhile, Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) has had several prominent romances, including his marriage to Charity Tate (Emma Atkins).

It has been revealed that the woman will be known as Anya. and as Joe pointed out, she entered the country illegally after entering Caleb's van while it was travelling abroad.

During the episode, Ruby could also tell that Anya (Alia Al-Shabibi) was unwell and wanted to get her medical help, but Anya refused, so Ruby took her home, fed her, and let her sleep.

Expressing his fury, Caleb explained that this could implicate them in human trafficking and insisted that he wants nothing to do with it.

He fumed: "Ruby, if anyone finds her here, they'll think I've smuggled her into the country... it will be hard to buy if she's sleeping under our roof. That, on its own, is an offence, and you'd be guilty of it as well," Caleb went on to call her actions "a mistake," hintint at a potential rift between the pair.
