Novak Djokovic's opponent throws ball at him as son left amazed at Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic had a tennis ball playfully thrown at him by Miomir Kecmanovic after winning a stunning point against him on Centre Court. Djokovic's son was watching on at Wimbledon as the 24-time Grand Slam champion wowed spectators with a leap to his left which clinched an incredible rally.

The pair were still on serve and locked at deuce in the first set when Djokovic produced one of the highlight-reel moments of his Wimbledon career to earn break point. Djokovic was invited to the net before dinking a drop shot over for Kecmanovic to chase. The sixth seed sprung to his left to get his racket on an attempted passing shot, and when Kecmanovic somehow got that back over the net, Djokovic was at full stretch to send his opponent sprinting down the court with a pinpoint lob.

Kecmanovic more than played his part in the rally which had fans screaming long before it was settled, sending a shot skyward to give him time to get settled. Djokovic smashed that down the middle, and after two further shots at close quarters, Kecmanovic went for another passing attempt which Djokovic reached by diving to his left and executing an unbelievable winner.

Kecmanovic took a moment to flash a smile at his Serbian compatriot before taking a ball from his pocket and throwing it in his direction.

Djokovic's son, Stefan, was in awe as he watched on, holding his arms aloft with a huge smile on his face. And the player himself revved up the crowd by pumping both arms upwards while walking back to the baseline.

"What a point!" screamed BBC commentator Andrew Cotter. "What a point. In all his years at Wimbledon, he won't have played many finer rallies than that. The richest of entertainment for Centre Court on a rather gloomy evening - that was special."

Djokovic went on to win Kecmanovic's service game, and the next eight games in a row to storm into a two-set lead over the 25-year-old. The world No.6 is aiming to spoil the party of young high-flyers Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who many fancy to compete for the title.

Aside from a tiebreak against Alexandre Muller in the first round, Djokovic is yet to drop a set at this year's Championships. And he has the added incentive of chasing the 25th Grand Slam win which would take him clear of Margaret Court at the top of the all-time list.
