Two Man Utd stars played significant role in Benjamin Sesko transfer agreement

Manchester United are on the cusp of a complete overhaul of their forward line under Ruben Amorim this summer. Benjamin Sesko is poised to join Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo at Old Trafford as the Red Devils aim to resolve their goal-scoring issues.

Sesko, 22, is due to undergo his medical before finalising a £73.3million move from RB Leipzig, pushing United's spending over the £200m mark in the transfer window. The striker chose the 13-time Premier League champions over Newcastle, despite the Magpies' ability to offer European football.

Despite this, the Old Trafford outfit managed to negotiate a lower fee with the Bundesliga side for Sesko's services. However, that doesn't mean the forward came cheap.

Earlier deals for Cunha and Mbuemo set the stage for United to make a third significant signing, despite concerns about the club's compliance with Premier League profit and sustainability rules. The club has several players up for sale, including Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho, but so far, they've only managed to loan out Marcus Rashford to Barcelona.

Barcelona is covering all of Rashford's salary, providing some relief, but United took precautions to ensure they could still be active in the transfer market if necessary. The deals they struck for Cunha and Mbeumo were crucial to that.

Despite the hefty price tag of around £130m, United have managed to structure the payments in a way that allows them to continue their spending spree, according to the BBC. This has been beneficial in their pursuit of Sesko, although they may need additional financial leeway for a midfielder.

The arrival of Sesko could potentially signal the exit of Rasmus Hojlund from Old Trafford. Despite the Danish player's determination to fight for his place, United have made him available for transfer.

The 22-year-old former Atalanta player could be sold for as little as £30m, with United prepared to take a hit. Former United midfielder Paul Scholes has warned that this situation should be approached with caution.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, Scholes expressed his concerns: "From the point of Sesko... he'll have more chance at Newcastle to develop which he needs. Now to be a Manchester United centre-forward, as we've found with Hojlund, a 22-year-old kid, you've got to be ready.

"It's got to be now. And Hojlund just isn't quite good enough for that as we've seen. But again, he's not had a chance to be developed - going to Newcastle might have been the best thing for him, for two or three years."
