Mysuru: The department of special education at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) conducted a preschool Graduation Ceremony at its auditorium here on Tuesday. Dr H SundaraRaju, professor, ENT, AIISH, was the chief guest. The preschool training centre at the AIISH provides early educational intervention services for children with communication disorders such as hearing impairment, mental retardation, autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, and multiple disabilities.
Preschool training is offered in essential areas like self-help, cognitive, motor, and social skills to prepare children with communication disorders for mainstream. For the academic year 2024-25, 145 children with communication disorders graduated from preschool to proceed to mainstream school. This high success rate of achievement can be attributed to a systematic curriculum and appropriate teaching strategies that meet learning requirements of the children.
