Mysuru: The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), in association with CII, will conduct a session titled ‘Sustainable City: Building a Greener Future' on May 2.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Vinod, chairman of the IGBC Mysuru Chapter, said, "The symposium will focus on green and sustainable urban development in Mysuru. The objective of the symposium will be to derive a plan to get the city of Mysuru rated as a ‘Green City.' A case study of the city of Pune, which achieved a Green City rating, will be presented by Pranathi Shroff Munot during the event."
"IGBC, part of CII, is spreading the green building movement in the country with over two decades of services in developing technical guidelines, green and net-zero certifications, capacity building, accreditation, and memberships. The council has 30 regional chapters catering to the sustainability aspects of the built environment. With IGBC's efforts, India is amongst the top two countries in the world in terms of registered green building footprints, which is 13.56 billion sq. ft going green with over 15,800 projects of various typologies," added Vinod.
Srihari D, co-chairman of the IGBC Mysuru Chapter, said, "The event will see participation from senior officials of MCC, Muda, CESC, ZP, and other key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors."
The installation of new office bearers for the IGBC Mysuru Chapter will be held on the same day. Vinod Maroli will take over as chairman, and Srihari will take over as co-chairman. C Shekar Reddy, national co-chairman of IGBC, will be the installing officer.
