Madikeri: Eight-year-old Prithvi, the labrador who did excellent duty in the police department, died due to a heart attack on Monday night. Prithvi was trained in Bengaluru for six months and was later posted to Kodagu district. He participated in more than 500 VIP/VVIP security duties, according to the in-charge police officer, Jeethu Rai. The dog earned praise for participating in the Prime Minister's duty in the neighbouring states of Goa and Pondicherry. Prithvi had the distinction of winning medals. He performed security duties during the air show in Bengaluru and during cricket matches held at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
