Nagpur: The Mahayuti alliance launched a scathing criticism of the Congress party's Sadbhavna Shanti March, alleging that it was organised purely for political mileage rather than genuine concern for communal harmony.
BJP MLA Pravin Datke accused Congress of shedding "crocodile tears." "When there was an urgent need to restore peace, not a single Congress leader came forward. Now, a month after the riots, the party has suddenly woken up. Congress leaders are making a desperate attempt to gain political mileage. They haven't even expressed solidarity with those whose vehicles, shops, and homes were damaged in the riots," Datke stated.
He further mocked the move, saying, "This belated wisdom of Congress leaders is laughable. Will walking 500 steps help them understand the pain of those who suffered losses worth crores? But the public knows everything — Congress can't fool anyone here."
Supporting this criticism, Prashant Pawar, city president of the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), called the march a "mere gimmick." "Let's be honest — Congress has a new state president, and he needs to send a report to his Delhi bosses about what he's done since taking over. That's why they're staging this rally," he said.
Pawar added that Congress is scrambling to remain relevant. "Their electoral performance in Maharashtra speaks for itself. The people have rejected Congress, and now the party is trying to stay in the media spotlight for the next four years. Since they have no real issues to talk about, they're inventing reasons to stay in the news," he said.
