Nagpur: A man was stoned to death by his brother-in-law late Wednesday night near Sharada Mandir in Mahdibagh following a heated argument over a long-standing family dispute, reportedly involving money.
The victim has been identified as Tarachand Prajapati, in his late 20s. Police said the accused, also in his late 20s, had moved to Yashodhara Nagar six months ago from Kalamna, where Prajapati resided.
According to police sources, tensions between the two had been simmering for some time. The dispute escalated as they came face to face in the area, leading the brother-in-law to fatally assault Prajapati with a gattu (paving stone). Prajapati was taken to Mayo Hospital with severe injuries but was declared dead on arrival.
Police have taken the accused into custody. Police said the motive appears to be personal and financially driven, though they are verifying the full background of the dispute. The police were in the process of registering a case till filing of this report.
