Shraddha Kapoor has finally addressed the debate surrounding the success of Stree 2, a sequel to the 2018 blockbuster *Stree*.
With the film surpassing expectations and grossing over Rs 856 crore globally, there has been a public discussion over who deserves credit Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, or others involved in the project.
During The Indian Express event, Shraddha Kapoor settled the debate by emphasizing the collaborative nature of filmmaking.
Shraddha Kapoor recalled the impact Stree had on her when she first heard the script. “I hadn’t come across a story like that before it was pure entertainment. I laughed, I was thrilled, and I loved playing the mysterious character,” she said.
Reflecting on the first film’s success,Shraddha Kapoor added, “It all started there. Hats off to the director, writer, and producer for staying true to the essence of the sequel."
The actor acknowledged that creating a successful sequel requires substance, not just the desire to cash in on a hit. "With Stree 2, we delivered on entertainment, dialogues, and performances. Ultimately, it’s the audience who decides the film's fate, and we are grateful for the love they showed.”
Shraddha Kapoor also hinted at future developments in the franchise. She revealed that director Amar Kaushik already has a storyline for Stree 3.
“When Amar sir mentioned he had a story for the third part, I got very excited. I can’t wait to see where it goes.”
Addressing the film’s success in a male-dominated industry, Shraddha Kapoor stressed the importance of quality over star power. She concluded by saying, “A good film always works. This should motivate all of us to not take anything for granted and continue making meaningful cinema.”
