Punjab Kings secured a 37-run victory against Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025 match at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday (May 4). After being asked to bat first, Punjab Kings posted 236/5 and restricted LSG to 199/7, marking their first IPL win at the venue since May 18, 2013, when they defeated Mumbai Indians by 50 runs.

The victory was particularly significant as Punjab Kings have only won six out of their 14 matches played at the Dharamsala venue. Their previous success at this ground came under former Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist 's captaincy, who led the team in their first five matches at the venue.

Adam Gilchrist holds the record for most wins as captain for Punjab Kings in Dharamsala with five victories, while current captain Shreyas Iyer has secured one win.

"Elated to be honest. Everyone stepped up at the right time. The contribution was immense from each and every individual. Prabhsimran โ€“ the way he performed today was exceptional. All the shots played were exceptional to the eyes," said Iyer during the post-match presentation.

When questioned about the team's historically poor record at HPCA Stadium, Iyer responded: "I'm glad I did not know about it. I step on to the pitch to win the match, that was my mindset. We have been lucky so far, the luck has been there because of the hard work and the commitment shown. Everyone stepping at the right time, each and every individual know their roles precisely. There's only thing we need to correct โ€“ that is the awareness and the way we move on the field. Just back yourself and back your instincts and not think too much about the stats and what it can offer. Results does matter and that is winning."

The match history at HPCA Stadium shows varied results for Punjab Kings, including notable victories against teams like Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Chennai Super Kings. The venue has hosted IPL matches since 2010, with teams like Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings, and Delhi Capitals also securing wins against Punjab Kings.
