The 24-year-old from Amravati, Maharashtra, also earned a team silver and a mixed team bronze, achieving a noteworthy three-medal collection.

Madhura's individual final proved to be an intense contest.

She commenced with a flawless 30, including two Xs, but lost ground with two 8s in the second end and a 7 in the third, falling behind at 81-85.

Krahe, ranked 52nd and previous World Cup team bronze winner, responded with a perfect 30 in the third end.

Staying focused, Madhura demonstrated exceptional composure, scoring 29 in the fourth to equalise at 110-all.

In the crucial final end, she scored two Xs and a 9, whilst Krahe managed 28, securing Madhura's victory by one point.

Previously, India's medal count started with gold in the men's team event, as Abhishek Verma, Ojas Deotale, and Rishabh Yadav overcame Mexico 232-228 in a close final.

The first-seeded Indian team opened with 59 against Mexico's 57, reaching a 115-115 tie midway.

India took control with 58 in the third end and concluded with an excellent 59, whilst Mexico scored 56.

Yadav, aged 22, earned his first individual World Cup medal, overcoming South Korea's Kim Jongho 145-145 (10--10) in a tense shoot-off for bronze.

Leading after the initial end, Yadav dropped behind but recovered with a perfect 30 to reach 115-115.

Both competitors achieved 30s in the final end, but Yadav's arrow landed closer centrally in the shoot-off. Earlier, Yadav lost to world No. 1 Mike Schloesser of the Netherlands 144-147.

Madhura, seeded third after Indian qualifications, started her individual journey by defeating Turkey's world No. 13 Hazal Burun, scoring 143-141 with perfect opening ends.

In the women's team final, Madhura joined Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Chikitha Taniparthi, securing silver after a 221-234 loss to Mexico.

Despite trailing significantly, the Indian team demonstrated potential throughout.

Madhura secured another medal with Verma in the mixed team bronze match, winning 144-142 against Malaysia.

These achievements demonstrate India's increasing strength in compound archery internationally.

As compound archery joins the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics with a mixed team event, India aims for its inaugural Olympic archery medal.

Recurve competitions conclude Stage 2 on Sunday, with India pursuing three additional medals.

The Indian men's team contests the bronze match, whilst Parth Salunkhe and Deepika Kumari commence from the semifinals.
