Artemi Panarin allegedly took the woman’s phone and said he’d give it back only from his hotel room

Two New York Rangers sources shared with The Athletic that the alleged sexual assault happened in December 2023 during a New York Rangers road trip.

The two sources said Artemi Panarin and the woman, who was a regular part of the team’s traveling party, were at a post-game gathering at a hotel. They were with a dozen other players and staff members.

According to the two Rangers sources, Artemi Panarin allegedly took the woman’s phone and said he’d give it back if she retrieved it from his hotel room.

When the woman went to Artemi Panarin’s hotel room to retrieve her device, Panarin pinned her down on the bed. The woman pushed him off, retrieved her phone, and left the hotel room.

X users instantly put forth their views on the X post of Artemi Panarin's alleged sexual assault case

The first comment that came on the X post was, “You cannot say something like this based on an accusation that was not reported to anyone until being fired for a separate offense. If this was you or your son you’d be saying otherwise. Not fair at all. Not saying she’s a liar but not going to say he is either we us in Twitter land have no clue”

Another X user wrote, “Always 2 sides to every story
I doubt we'll ever hear the real story. It was swept under the rug a while ago.”

A third X user wrote, “You can’t fire someone based off an accusation. I understand where you’re coming from but anyone could accuse anyone of anything at that point to get them fired based on that logic. If he’s proven guilty or has outstanding evidence against him it’s a different story.”

A fourth X user wrote, “The alleged assault. So I get assaulted but I don't press charges. I'm so distraught but I take the money. Gimme a break. If it's my daughter. That MF is going to jail or I'm paying him a visit. Not talking money. Does that mean it didn't happen ? Nope. Doesn't mean it did either”

A fifth X user wrote, “Where’s the proof? Is there video? Obviously with cameras in the locker room you would think one of them would have captured footage of him snatching her phone? Where is it? Video footage from the hotel? Where is it? I call BS.”

A sixth X user wrote, “Allegedly plus if this is true the organization let it go and they’d have a hard time terminating or trading him”

A seventh X user wrote, “Allegedly plus if this is true the organization let it go and they’d have a hard time terminating or trading him”

An eighth X user wrote, “Because someone claimed something. Are you kidding me? Are you new to society? There wasn't even an investigation. The team and NHL had people investigate. They didn't find enough to even discipline the guy or suspend him. But you have the answers”.
