NEW DELHI: Comedian Kapil Sharma's security has been beefed up by the Mumbai Police after firing at his restaurant in Canada, PTI reported citing an official on Monday.
His restaurant Kap's Cafe, in Surrey, was targeted last week and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the incident. The statement by a gang member said that the attack came because of Kapil's alleged proximity with actor Salman Khan.
"If anyone works with Salman, whether a small-time actor or a small-time director, we will not spare them. We will kill them. We will go to any extent necessary to kill them," an audio clip of Harry Boxer, a Bishnoi aide said.
This marked the second shooting at the café in a month. A man, on July 9, wearing a body camera opened fire at Kap’s Café while recording the incident, with Germany-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) militant Harjeet Singh Laddi later claiming responsibility.
The Bishnoi gang has targeted Khan for years, firing at his Galaxy Apartment last year and allegedly killing his friend, former state minister Siddique, in Bandra on October 12, 2024. Gang members also scouted Khan’s Panvel farmhouse for an attack, but the plot did not materialize.
