In a chilling turn of events, a Texas man murdered the coworker he was obsessed with, claiming her "long breaks" compelled him to do so. The two were working at an Allegiance Trucks office in Lewisville, located about 30 miles north of Dallas.

51 year old Travis Merrill was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing his coworker Tamhara Collazo at her desk on Thursday.

As per the police, Merrill opened fire after the victim came back from a lunch break on Thursday afternoon. The victim who was rushed to a hospital, died from her injuries.

"As she re-entered after lunch, he followed her inside to her cubicle and ‘ambushed’ her, firing the gun several times," as per a description given by FOX 4 Dallas.

Court documents indicated that Merrill had previously confessed being "obsessed" with the victim and was fixated on the breaks she took at work, he even carefully recorded the days she took breaks along with their duration.

The documents revealed, "[Merrill said he] was obsessed with Collazo and began getting ever increasingly angry by her taking what he considered to be unauthorized long breaks during work hours, as well as not paying any attention to him."

Merrill's concerning behavior was noted by Collazo who then reported him to the company's human resources department. The suspect was instructed to seek counseling before returning to work.

Merrill also informed police that he was angered by the fact that Collazo avoided him after reporting. He also confessed to buying firearms and acknowledged that he had brought the guns to work on multiple occasions.

Merrill justified his actions saying that the victim had "caused him pain, and he wanted her to feel pain, so he intentionally planned to shoot her at work with everyone there."

In a statement to FOX 4, Allegiance Trucks expressed devastation over the incident and announced that its Lewisville office is closed following the shooting.

“We are also working closely with law enforcement during their ongoing investigation," Allegiance Trucks said.
