A fire has reportedly broken out at the Karaj nuclear power plant in Iran , according to initial claims from an opposition group, as per reports by Israeli media. Footage shows the facility engulfed in smoke, although the cause of the fire and potential casualties have not been confirmed.

This comes a day after, five people were killed and fourteen others injured in an attack on the headquarters of Turkey 's aviation company, TUSAS . Security forces managed to kill the two terrorists involved in the incident.

In response to the attack, Turkey has launched airstrikes for a second consecutive day against suspected Kurdish militant targets in Syria and Iraq. The National Intelligence Organisation focused on facilities linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its affiliates, employing armed drones in these operations.

The Karaj facility has previously been the target of attacks. In 2022, Iranian authorities relocated centrifuge machines to a safer location following a "terrorist attack" on the site, which was blamed on Israel. This complex is part of Iran's broader nuclear programme, which has been the subject of international scrutiny in recent years.
