Former US vice president Kamala Harris faced multiple disruptions at her Chicago book tour stop on Saturday.

The security had to remove several protesters during the event promoting her new memoir, 107 Days.

As Harris discussed her book, one protester shouted from the audience, prompting others to call, "get her out." Security quickly escorted the woman from the venue.

Footage circulating on social media showed more interruptions, including a man who appeared to shout about genocide before being removed. After pro-Palestinian protestors called the Democratic leader a "war criminal", Kamala quickly pointed out that she’s not the president and went on to mention mass deportations carried out under MAGA rule, operationalized by Donald Trump.

"I’m not the president. If you want to go to the White House and talk to him, then go do that," Kamala shouted as the audience cheered.

The audience responded with applause when the host of the show addressed the disruptions. "We encourage people to use their voices, but we want them to show respect for this woman," she said. Harris added with humour, "And please pronounce my name correctly."

This is not the first time Harris’ book tour has faced protests. Since launching the national tour last month, she has experienced similar interruptions while promoting 107 Days, which includes her 107-day 2024 presidential campaign following Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race, reports Fox news. The memoir offers a behind-the-scenes look at campaign decisions, staff tensions, and the political challenges she faced.

Netizens were also quick to point out that the Israel-Hamas war escalated from October 2023, during which time Biden was president and Democratic rule prevailed in the US. They noted that as soon as Trump took office, MAGA supporters claimed the war ended within a few months.
