Harbhajan Singh Inaugurates Durga Puja Pandal

On September 22, in Kolkata, West Bengal, former Indian cricketer and AAP MP Harbhajan Singh officially opened the Sarbojonin Durgotsav Durga Puja pandal located in Ashok Nagar. The legendary spinner, who has a profound connection with the city and its famed Eden Gardens, felt a wave of nostalgia during the event.


Reflecting on his experiences, Harbhajan remarked, “Eden made me.”


He reminisced about his time at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, where he participated in seven Test matches, claiming 46 wickets, which includes six five-wicket hauls and a remarkable ten-wicket match haul, making him the leading wicket-taker at this venue in Test history.


Harbhajan also expressed admiration for former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who is expected to return as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).


“Dada is like an elder brother to me. He has been a guiding force during my challenging times. I hold immense respect for him... Today, I am in his city,” he shared.


Remembered for his outstanding performances at Eden Gardens, the ex-cricketer conveyed his heartfelt appreciation for Kolkata and its residents, stating that he will always treasure his connection with the city.


“This is my city too because Kolkata made me,” he emphasized.


“I want to express my gratitude to Maa Durga for allowing me this opportunity... I feel an abundance of love whenever I visit Kolkata. I pray that Maa Durga blesses everyone with happiness and health,” Harbhajan concluded.
