Galaxy Watch 4 Through Watch 7 and Ultra Now Receiving Stability and Security Improvements

April 30, 2025 — Samsung is now broadly rolling out its April 2025 update to nearly all of its Wear OS-powered Galaxy Watch models, expanding beyond the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra to include several earlier generations. The update is now reaching Galaxy Watch 4 through Galaxy Watch Ultra in multiple global markets, including the United States and South Korea.

According to reports from SammyGuru, SamMobile, and various user forums, the update is appearing for a wide range of devices, with staggered rollouts depending on region and model.

Eligible Galaxy Watch Models for April 2025 Update

The following Galaxy Watch models are confirmed to be receiving the update:

  • Galaxy Watch 7

  • Galaxy Watch Ultra

  • Galaxy Watch 6

  • Galaxy Watch 6 Classic

  • Galaxy Watch 5

  • Galaxy Watch 5 Pro

  • Galaxy Watch 4

  • Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

The update package size varies by model, typically ranging between 400MB and 500MB, and is available via the Galaxy Wearable app.

Update Focuses on Security and Stability

While the download size is relatively large, the official changelog provided by Samsung remains minimal. The company lists the following improvements:

  • Stability and reliability: General performance enhancements to ensure smoother operation

  • Security: Strengthened system protections for safer user experience

However, the update still includes the March 2025 security patch, suggesting it does not bring the very latest Wear OS security fixes. Users hoping for new features or UI changes will be disappointed, as the update appears to focus solely on backend improvements.

Check for Updates via Galaxy Wearable App

To install the update:

  • Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected smartphone

  • Navigate to Watch settings > Watch software update

  • Tap Download and install

  • As always, Samsung is using a phased rollout approach, meaning it may take a few days or weeks before the update reaches all devices in all regions.
